Paladin of the Rust Dragon
By: Edwin Theo Rodriguez
(an English sonnet)

I walk in a forest wearing a cloak and hood
To look for thy master, the scapegoat heir
But on my journey I was given a big scare
By the sight of the dragon as mighty as it should
The dragon’s color was as of rust wood
Which released a from it’s belly an intense cinnabar flare
As a knight, oh yes I would dare
To slay the dragon as hard as I could
And I fought so hard until blood spurt from it scale
As I said, “Dragon, you must bow down to me,
for I shall be your master.”
And now I am proud to wear dragon-scaled mail
I, the knight with a spirit so free
The paladin I am, going faster and faster
